The Hess Collective
MISSION STATEMENT
The Hess Collective generates new work based on a hybrid approach to embodied performance. A fusion of physical theater modalities culled from Western and Eastern practices, diverse ensemble members unlock impulses, experience and imagination to generate transformative, empathetic and expansive artistic expression. The work addresses issues of social and global urgency through heightened realism, cross-cultural collaboration and inter-disciplinary creation.
WORKSHOP INTENSIVES
Workshops provide an opportunity for theater artists to become versed in Hess’ unique approach to embodied performance. This hybrid technique engages ‘States of Being’ that explore who we are at any given moment and how that changes according to the activation of specific behavioral, physiological and psychological conditions of existence. By accessing these interconnected states of being, artists learn to experiment, enliven and enlarge their artistic palette.
